Next week, the all black issue of Vogue will hit new stands. It’s a long time coming and I’m sure that when I buy my copy I’m gonna cry like a little girl, unashamedly and fervently. I really thought that this was just gonna be a cute thing, but as I’m writing this I feel a little emotional. Why is it 2008 and black beauty is still not appreciated and respected. I feel like there are all these people that look at beautiful black women and see a category instead of an amazing looking woman. I personally know black women and men who should be booked for the biggest runways and the most lucrative endorsements but are being over looked becuz of the color of their skin.
To look at the pictures of these women looking gorgeous and elegant, displaying the divinity of the black woman. This is the glory of Naomi and Tyra, Liya and Chanel Iman, Jourdan and Sessilee and the other overlooked talented few that make up this small group of women that have found footing on the slippery slope that is a whited-out fashion industry. My heart if full of pride and optimism at the future for women of color that are competent models. THIS IS NOT ABOUT BLACK MODELS TAKING OVER THE INDUSTRY, IT’S ABOUT EQUALITY AND RESPECTING EVERY FORM OF BEAUTY. I really hope that this can be the catalyst for the world of fashion to make the runways and advertorials an array of colors and shades from every race.

I don’t know what the cover says but my sweet Katey Moss graces the cover of the April issue of Vogue Paris and her boychest never looked more wonderful than now, love that hungry, malnurished look. Y’know, after the whole thing of being caught cuttin’ that illegal white, her career and her shoots have been off the meter. Crack is supposed to be whack, but…….I don’t know, it’s doin major thangs for Katey. Have you noticed that the models are taking back the fashion magz, THANK SWEET & TANGY MOO-GOO-GAI-PAN JESUS!!! Now hopefully we won’t continue to be subjected to Chloe Sevignumz’ and Cory Kennedy hoarding the newstands. *Lifts Champagne glass* Here’s to the models killin’ the 15 minute fame girl and burning the remains…..

That boy’ clean! He looks good and ready for a face-2-face to chew the fat with Jesus. It’s like a mix between ‘Ethan Hawke in Gattaca’ and the Million Dollar man sprinkled with scientology chic for his feature in the quarterly men’s fashion bible magazine, V-Man. My one problem with this shoot is that he’s wearing my shoes, those D&G white leather tennis shoes……such a good reason to commit armed robbery, be afraid *squints*. As much as people try to make Ashton just another ‘perty’ face, he’s actually a talented actor and a savy business man what with his ventures into film and t.v. production………..of course doing ”Punk’d” didn’t help that image in any way but he’s growing - baby steps, baby steps.

I personally don’t think he’s a gay, that’s just the curse of bein pretty. Of course I’m totally biased cuz I loooooove Disney Channel and all of it’s squeaky clean stars……..but……that’s healthy for a 25 year old tho’…….right…………..RIGHT? Well whatever the case, good wholesome entertainment with hyper-sexual undertones just does something for me. You know Walt Disney was a freak.

Heatherette is venturing into make-up and that makes me hotter than a big girl on 2 for 1 days a the Popeye’s. Everyone with a brain knows that Z’maji *hearts* Heatherette. There’s just something so good TO me about their 80’s glam, life size Barbie style. So you can just imagine how excited I am to know that they are venturing into the beauty market. I really believe that the Metropolis Cowboy, Traver Rains & the ever-glam Richie Rich will bring something fresh and exciting…..AND debaucherous to the cosmetics industry. Time to throw away the ‘color by number’ makeup kit…..BEYONCE!………………God I want her.
